「暁月夜」 grey suns《黎明》. 2025. Black and light grey risograph ink on washi. 15 x 10 cm. (5.91 x 3.94 in).

In my practice, I work in long-term, ongoing series that I materialise in various differing permutations over time. In line with this spirit,「暁月夜」grey suns《黎明》 is an accordion-bound photo book that continues my explorations with one of my newer series of images which I debuted in the smallest registers of motion《微尘似梦》「上り月や 手に震える」. It also marks a preliminary step towards an upcoming expanded, sculptural photo book.

The series of images in grey suns is expanded and offers new combinations, sequences and selections. Distinct from its predecessor, the smallest registers of motion, grey suns was printed via risography on a different type of washi, selected in particular for its colour and texture. The combination of black and light grey riso ink gives the images depth and transforms its visual quality, rendering it reminiscent of a pencil drawing. Through syncopations in lightness and darkness, fullness and emptiness, this photo book crafts a slow and gentle walk amidst the soft shroud of a grey sun.
