《起伏》sea tiles: dreaming tides, gathering and unravelling is an artist book contributing towards my newfound interest in time and the tides. Made in the structure of a waterfall flipbook, it consists of photograms (silver gelatine prints) that I made of the seawater as waves crashed on the shore under the moonlight. To create the photograms, I travelled to the beach at night, put the darkroom paper into the water, exposed the waves and ripples using a flash, and then developed the prints in a darkroom the next morning. Made over multiple days, each print reflects different weather and tidal conditions. The photograms are records of the sea, capturing its energy and the environmental conditions at that precise moment, isolating a fleeting instant in the ceaseless cycle of tidal movements, at once eternal and ever-changing, speaking to my fundamental interest the pathos of things, impermanence, and beauty in relation to time as articulated through the lens of nature.
