「巻貝の渦行き渡る冬銀河」(makigai no uzu yuki wataru fuyu ginga) takes inspiration from a haiku written by 花谷和子 HANATANI Kazuko:
巻貝の渦行き渡る冬銀河
makigai no / uzu yukiwataru / fuyu ginga
a conch shell’s / spiral, unraveling / a winter galaxy
Connecting the spiral of a conch shell to that of the Milky Way, it sees the vast in the small, the small in the vast—one is all; all is one. In the first tier, I activate a found 天目 (tenmoku) bowl as a potent metaphor. With 天 (ten) referring to the sky or the heavens and 目 (moku) referring to the eye, it reflects the universe in the human, the human in the universe. Each tier diminishes in size and once completely unravelled the box opens up to a shell with a distinct spiral and the overall box itself producing a spiral shape.
